Whatnot Refund Policy: Buyer Protection, Returns, and Deadlines

Verified August 1, 2026. Refreshed Monthly.

Whatnot does not offer a broad “return anything” policy. Refund eligibility depends on the problem, the category, the evidence, and how quickly the buyer reports it.

The most important step is to open the exact order and choose Get help with this purchase.

What Buyer Protection can cover

Covered problems can include:

  • Missing items
  • Incorrect items
  • Damage
  • Defects
  • Expired products
  • Counterfeit products
  • A condition that does not match the description
  • A wrong size or color
  • A package that never shipped
  • A shipment that is lost or significantly delayed
  • A package marked delivered but not received

Coverage is not automatic. The buyer must report the problem within the applicable deadline and provide enough evidence.

Evidence that helps

For a missing or incorrect item:

  • Full contents in one photo
  • Packing slip or receipt
  • Shipping label
  • Outer package
  • Video showing the opening when available

For damage:

  • Unopened package damage
  • Packing materials
  • Every damaged area
  • A wide photo and close photos
  • Serial, model, or identifying marks

For a counterfeit concern:

  • Full front and back
  • Labels and tags
  • Serial or date code
  • Stitching, logos, hardware, seals, or print details
  • Authentication result when available
  • Comparison with a known authentic example

For a not-as-described item:

  • Screenshot of the listing
  • Screenshot of the seller’s written claim
  • Photo showing the difference
  • Measurement with a ruler or scale when relevant

Seller-provided support

Some buyer issues may first go to the seller through Whatnot’s support thread.

The seller may:

  • Issue a full refund
  • Offer a partial refund
  • Request a return
  • Send a replacement
  • Ask for more information
  • Explain why the request is disputed

The buyer can escalate unresolved issues to Whatnot from the support thread.

Keep communication inside Whatnot. Off-platform messages can make the record harder to verify.

Missing packages

Check tracking and the delivery address first. Look around the property, ask household members, and contact the carrier when appropriate.

Whatnot says a package marked delivered but not received should be reported within 14 days of the delivery scan. If the carrier confirms correct delivery, a refund can be discretionary.

First-Class Mail Letter shipments may not show the same tracking detail as a parcel.

Returns

When a return is required:

  • Use the provided instructions.
  • Send the item in the same condition received.
  • Include every component.
  • Package it safely.
  • Use the required label.
  • Ship within the stated return window.
  • Keep the receipt and tracking.

Do not alter, clean, repair, open, grade, or use an item before the case is resolved unless support directs you to do so.

What is commonly excluded

Refunds are usually not intended for:

  • Buyer remorse
  • A fit issue when size was accurately stated
  • Disliking the style or color
  • A break that produced no valuable hit
  • Refusing delivery
  • Failing to collect a held package
  • Refusing customs charges
  • Damage caused after receipt
  • A product changed or used by the buyer
  • An order involved in an outside payment dispute or chargeback

Card breaks have narrower protection

A card-break buyer is purchasing the stated break allocation, not a guaranteed card value.

Problems such as missing cards, wrong cards, damage, failure to ship, or a break that did not follow the listing can be relevant. A disappointing result is not.

Save the break listing, allocation rules, and show recording information.

Refund timing

Approved refunds normally return to the original payment method. The bank or card issuer controls when the money becomes visible after Whatnot processes it.

Do not treat a refund confirmation and a posted bank credit as the same event.

Bottom line

The best refund strategy is speed and evidence. Inspect the order immediately, use the order-specific support path, state the problem precisely, and submit the strongest proof in the first message.
